For the past few days I have concentrated on trees...Maybe because I have always been fascinated by them and maybe a little because it is nearly Spring and they are beautiful right now....These are a few of the experiments I have done...
I will post more work (probably with lots of trees in it!) in the days to come....

The bottom tree is lovely. Yum, yum. Highly lickable, as Chichi would say. It reminds me of a big lolly pop.
Maya, I love your trees. They show your affinity for the beauty of nature.
I have an interest in trees and what they meant to celtic people. They believed that trees were inhabited by a spirit or dryad. They believed the Dryads were one with the characteristics of the tree. The dryad of an oak symbolised strength,the Birch tree represented new beginnings, willow is associated with love, etc.

I have an affinity to the oak too. At one point I was making jewellery with moonstones and oak leaves.
I have written a story for young children called 'The Last Acorn' but I'm still waiting for the publishers to come back to me on it.

Moonstones and amethyst are my favourite semiprecious stones...I use them a lot when making jewelry!
I didn't realise you made jewellery as well Maya.
With my 'oak leaf' rings I solder a bezel to the ring, then beat and engrave sheet silver into the shape of oak leaves. These are then soldered so they just overlap the bezel. then I set the moonstone by swaging the bezel and uppermost edges of the oak leaves over the edges of the moon stone.
It's pretty fiddly and it's eay to melt the bezel as you solder the leaves on, so I have to use three different temperature solders!
